NEWTON, Mass. – Eight members of the Lasell College men's lacrosse team were honored Monday with selection to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference All-Conference Team for the 2018 season. The All-GNAC Teams are selected by a vote of the league's head coaches.

Four Lasers were named to the All-GNAC First Team – senior attack Austin Tomasetti (Elmsford, N.Y.), junior midfielder Ryan Madden (Hingham, Mass.), senior short-stick middie Greg Klaum (Floral Park, N.Y.), and junior defenseman David Sheehan (Tewksbury, Mass.). Tomasetti and Madden are three-time All-Conference selections for Lasell, Sheehan was honored for the second time, and Klaum is a first-time pick.

Senior defenseman Travis Duhamel (Deerfield, N.H.) was voted All-GNAC Second Team, and three other Lasers were Third Team choices – senior midfielder Alex McCormack-Kuhman (Wells, Maine), sophomore long-stick middie Matt Carnevale (Beverly, Mass.), and sophomore face-off specialist Ben Werner (Boxford, Mass.). McCormack-Kuhman was honored for the second time and the others are all first-time selections.

The eight All-Conference selections helped the Lasers overcome an 0-4 start to the season to finish 9-7 overall under third-year head coach Bill Mason, and earn a share of the GNAC regular season title with an 8-1 mark. Lasell was knocked out of the GNAC Tournament in overtime in the semifinals by eventual champion and sixth-seeded Johnson & Wales University.

Tomasetti led the team in scoring with 67 points on 27 goals and 40 assists, ranking second in the GNAC in both assists and points. He had career-highs of eight assists and 10 points in a conference win over Saint Joseph's, and winds up his career with 83 goals, 106 assist and 189 points. He also picked up 51 ground balls this season, third-best on the team and 17th in the GNAC. Tomasetti, who got a First Team nod this year after being voted Third Team as a sophomore and Second Team last year, was also Lasell's representative on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

Madden topped the Lasers and tied for fourth in the GNAC with 41 goals, and was second on the team and tied for fifth in the conference with 58 points. The Laser midfielder also ranked ninth in Division III with 10 goals in man-up situations. Madden matched the school record with eight goals in a win over Rivier University, and tallied at least two goals in his last eight games. He heads into his senior season with 115 career goals, 36 assists and 151 points. Madden is a two-time All-GNAC First Team selection after earning Second Team honors as a freshman.

Klaum started 13 of his 15 games this season as a defensive midfielder, and picked up 28 ground balls while defending some of the top offensive players in the league. A three-year veteran, he had a breakout season for the Lasers, earning his first All-Conference selection after coming back from a season-ending injury a year ago.

Sheehan was one of the top defenders in the country for Lasell, leading the GNCA and ranking fifth in Division III with 3.06 caused turnovers per game. He also ranked second on the team with 58 ground balls. Sheehan matched the program record with five caused turnovers four times, then established a new mark by causing seven turnovers in a 13-12 win over rival Mount Ida. He now owns the program record with 49 caused turnovers in a season and 121 in a career. Sheehan is an All-Conference First Team choice this season after earning Second Team honors last season.

Carnevale and Duhamel joined Sheehan as top defenders for the Lasers. Carnevale was second on the team and ninth in the league with 22 caused turnovers and fourth on the team with 32 ground balls. Duhamel was third on the squad with 16 caused turnovers despite missing three games, and was sixth on the team with 31 ground balls.

McCormack-Kuhman was a key contributor to the Laser offense, scoring 30 goals, second-most on the team and 13th in the conference, and finishing with 41 points, third-best for the team and 17th in the GNAC. He completes a four-year career with 65 goals, 19 assists and 84 points. Werner won more than 50 percent on his face-offs (167-of-328, .509), setting a Lasell single-season record for face-offs won and ranking fifth in the conference.
