SALISBURY, MD -- The Lasell College men's lacrosse team's season came to a close Tuesday evening as the Lasers fell 9-7 to the Misericordia University Cougars in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. 

Lasell advanced to their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance after defeating Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) rival Mount Ida last Saturday in the conference championship. 

Kyle Reese (Lancaster, PA) put Misericordia on the board first. Senior Josh Gallant recorded his 100th career goal, tying the game up at 1-1 with 10:20 remaining in the first. 

Misericordia came out firing in the second quarter, scoring four straight goals to open up Cougars lead. The Cougars had eight different players score enroute to the first round victory. 

Austin Tomasetti (Elmsford, N.Y.) answered back for the Lasers with 1:41 remaining in the second, cutting the Cougars lead to 6-2 headed into the break. 

Lasell gained some momentum in the third quarter as both Alex-McCormack-Kuhman (Wells, Maine) and Connor Johnson (Hampstead, N.H.) scored to finish out the quarter.

Gallant would add two more, and Tomasetti one, but the Lasers comeback efforts would end there as Misericordia's Jake Kocovsky (Andover, MN) would seal the victory for the Cougars.

GNAC Goalie of the Year, Jorge Salazar (Waltham, Mass.) recorded 17 saves for the Lasers in the loss, while Matt Beck (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) stopped 11 for the Cougars. 

The Lasers finish their season 13-4, including their first ever conference title. Misericordia moves on to face #2 Salisbury in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on May 10 at 4:00pm.
