Men's Lacrosse Places Six Players on All-Conference Teams

NEWTON, Mass. (5/10/16) – Six men's lacrosse players were named to the All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Teams as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. Senior Mike Pino (Tewksbury, Mass.) and freshman Ryan Madden (Hingham, Mass.) were named to the GNAC Second Team, while seniors Casey Sullivan (Quaker Hill, Conn.) and Pat Egan (Glen Rock, N.J.), junior Connor Johnson (Hampstead, N.H.) and sophomore Austin Tomasetti (Elmsford, N.Y.) were placed on the Third Team.

Pino backstopped the Lasers' defense to the lowest goals against average (8.24) in the conference during the 2016 season while setting the Lasell College career record in caused turnovers with 76 overall. Among his best statistical year, the three-year captain caused a season-record of 37 turnovers while starting in all 17 games to cap his career as a three-time all-conference player.

Madden had a standout rookie season as a crucial midfielder for the Lasers, scoring 37 goals in all 17 games played. More recently, Madden put up three hat tricks in the Lasers' last five contests, and notched 12 goals and two assists during the postseason tournament.

Sullivan and Egan served as the Lasers' fundamental attackmen this season and combined for 96 points overall. Sullivan ranks fourth among Lasell goal scorers with 24 on the season and achieved the 100-goal career milestone in a 17-2 victory at Anna Maria this year. A three-time all-conference player, Sullivan ranks third-all time in total points with 176 overall during his stint at Lasell. Egan quarterbacked the Lasers to the GNAC title game with 41 assists, which ranks him second all-time in assists in a season at Lasell, and first among conference stat leaders for the 2016 season.

Tomasetti earns his first postseason conference honor as the third leading goal scorer for the Lasers with 29 on the season. In all 17 games played, Tomasetti also dished out 13 assists for 42 total points, and capitalized on the man-up opportunity six times. Johnson, who represented the short stick middies on the Third Team, also earns his first collegiate all-GNAC honor after his best statistical season. Johnson ranks second on the squad in ground ball (56), and notched 12 goals with four assists for 16 points on the year.
