Men's Lacrosse Breezes Past AMCATS 17-2; Sullivan Notches 100th Career Goal

PAXTON, MASS. – William Towner (Amherst, N.H.) and James Torosian (Lynn, Mass.) each scored three goals and added assists to lead the Lasell men's lacrosse team past Anna Maria, 17-2, on Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at AMCAT field. The Lasers improve to 10-4 on the year and 5-2 in conference action, while the AMCATS dropped to 1-13 overall and 0-6 in league play.

Freshmen attacks, Towner and Torosian led the lasers with three goals apiece. Casey Sullivan (Quaker Hill, Conn.), Josh Gallant (Hampstead, N.H.), Austin Tomasetti (Elmsford, N.Y.) and William Gillis (Reading, Mass.) all notched two goals while senior Pat Egan (Glen Rock, N.J.) and freshmen Ryan Madden (Hignham, Mass.) and Michael Susi (Gorham, Maine) added to the scoring with one goal apiece. Sullivan's two goals reached his 100th career goal milestone, while Egan and Gallant each added two assists to accompany their goal scoring.

The AMCATS were led offensively by Hagan and Freshman Zachary Bryant (Saco, Maine) as they each tallied single goals in the loss.

Defensively, Jankowski caused four Lasell turnovers and Kai Nero Clark (Half Hollows, N.Y.) collected four ground balls.

Defensively, senior Joe Bove (Middleton, R.I.) caused a game-high five turnovers and scooped up five ground balls. Senior Mike Pino (Tewksbury, Mass.) added three caused turnovers and three ground balls while midfielder Chase Swift (Branford, Conn.) collected a team-high seven groundballs.

Swift was dominant in the face-of circle, winning 10-of-12 and grabbing a game-high seven ground balls. Junior midfielder Pete Dolan (Pearl River, N.Y.) also won six of eight face-offs for the Lasers. On the opposite side, sophomore Malik Griffith (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Sylvia won two face-offs apiece for Anna Maria.

AMCAT freshman Paul Schwarz (Staten Island, N.Y.) made 27 saves in the loss. Lasell senior, Chris Thomas-Ikier (Burlington, Mass.) earned the victory.

The Lasers came out firing with nine goals in the first quarter. The AMCATS defense stepped it up in the second quarter and only allowed two more goals by the lasers. The teams entered halftime with the score at 11-0.

In the third quarter the AMCAT offense found some life and tallied two goals, but the Lasers responded with four of their own increasing the AMCAT deficit to 15-2. The Lasers would only post two more goals in the last quarter for a final score of 17-2.

Freshman goalkeeper, Andrew Modugno (Medford, Mass.) saw 30 minutes of action as he played the second half of the game and made two saves.

The Lasers host Norwich for their Senior game and last game of the regular season on Wednesday, April 27 at 4:00 p.m. Anna Maria returns to action on Wednesday, April 27, with a home conference clash with Johnson & Wales (R.I.) that gets underway at 5:00 p.m.
