Men's Lax Shakes off Slow Start to Roll 18-5 at JWU

Providence, R.I. (4/7/14) – The Lasell College men's lacrosse team remained undefeated in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play with an 18-5 victory at Johnson and Wales University on Monday night. Lasell improved their record to 7-4 on the season and 6-0 in league games while Johnson and Wales slid to 2-10 overall and 0-6 in the conference.

Andrew Suh lead the way for Lasell with four goals and one assist and Aaron Laporte added three goals and two assists. Casey Sullivan scored twice for the Lasers and handed out three assists while Joe Cunning chipped in two goals. David Walen claimed the win in goal for Lasell, saving nine shots in just over two quarters of work before giving way to Chris Thomas-Ikier who made five saves.

TJ Consiglio scored twice for JWU, and Keegan Donaher, Tyler Thompson and Brian Hillenbrand each netted a goal for the Wildcats. Jack Pettine made 11 saves while taking the loss in the cage for JWU.

Lasell got off to a slow start, falling behind 2-0 at the end of the first quarter as JWU got goals late in the quarter from Consiglio and Donaher. The Lasers bounced right back, getting goals from Cunning and Laporte in the opening three minutes of play in the second quarter. Lasell ended the half by outscoring the Wildcats 3-1 after tying the score at 2-2 to take a 5-3 lead into the half.

Andrew Suh scored twice in the opening minute of the third period to ignite the Lasers offense as the visitors went on a 6-0 run to push their lead to 11-3. Lasell put the game out of reach in the early part of the fourth quarter, going on to outscore JWU 7-2 in the final period to produce the 18-5 final.

Lasell will return to action on Thursday April 10th when they host Becker College at 4:00 p.m.
