Men's Lacrosse Cruises to 12-7 Win at Rivier

Nashua, N.H. (4/5/14) – The Lasell College men's lacrosse team pushed their Great Northeast Athletic Conference record to 5-0 with a 12-7 victory at Rivier University on Saturday afternoon. The Lasers climbed to 6-4 on the year and 5-0 in the league while Rivier slipped to 6-5 overall and 3-4 in conference games.

Casey Sullivan (Waterford, Conn.) netted four goals and one assist for Lasell, Aaron LaPorte (Gorham, Maine) tallied a hat trick, and Pat Egan (Glen Rock, N.J.) added one goal and four assists as Lasell used a strong first half performance to claim the victory. Anthony Saitta (Derry, N.H.) chipped in one goal and one assist and Andrew Suh (Colchester, Conn.) dished out three assists for Lasell, as David Walen (Longmeadow, Mass.) made 16 saves in the cage for Lasell to earn the win.

Cody Lynch paced Rivier with three goals and two assists, Danny Hooper added two goals and an assist as Tom Johnson and Sean Given each notched a goal. Clark Plummer took the loss in goal for Rivier despite saving 11 shots in the game.

Hooper opened the scoring for Rivier, netting an unassisted goal in the opening minute but the visiting Lasers came right back, scoring the next five goals to take a 5-1 lead. Egan set up three straight goals for Lasell to kick-start the spurt as Laporte, Dylan Gray (Bayport, N.Y.) and Joe Cunning (Newton, Mass.) each scored once while Sullivan scored twice in the run. Rivier used an unassisted goal by Johnson to closethe period trailing Lasell 5-2.

Lasell scored four unanswered goals in the second quarter, to take a 9-2 lead into the intermission.

Rivier out-scored Lasell 5-3 in the second half, getting as close as 11-6 with just over eight minutes to play, but the Lasers Chuck Graham (Londerry, N.H.) scored on a feed from Sullivan to ice the victory.

Lasell will travel to Johnson and Wales on Mondat April 7th as they look to remain undefeated in GNAC play.
