Men's Lacrosse Drops Albertus Magnus, 20-6 in GNAC Play

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (4/2/14) – The Lasell College men's lacrosse team remained undefeated in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play with a 20-6 victory over Albertus Magnus College on Wednesday afternoon. Lasell improved to 5-4 on the season and 4-0 in league games while Albertus fell to 2-5 on the year and 1-4 in conference contests.

Freshmen Josh Gallant (Hampstead, N.H.) posted a career-high four goals and two assists for six points for the Lasers while sophomore Casey Sullivan (Waterford, Conn.) added four goals and one assist and Andrew Suh (Colchester, Conn.) tallied four goals. Pat Egan (Glen Rock, N.J.) notched three assists for Lasell, while Mike Bomberg (Merrimack, N.H.) added a goal and two assists and Anthony Saitta (Derry, N.H.) netted a pair of goals as well. Dylan Gray (Bayport, N.Y.) and Mike Dupont (Dover, N.H.) each scored once and assisted on two other goals as Lasell recorded assists on 16 of their 20 goals in the contest. David Walen (Longmeadow, Mass.) earned the win, stopping a pair of shots before giving way to Chris Pena (Billerica, Mass.) who made four saves in a little of a quarter of work and Jorge Salazar (Waltham, Mass.) made three saves in the fourth quarter in his college debut.

Greg Buck recorded a hat-trick for Albertus Magnus and Mike Choiniere chipped in two goals and two assists in the loss. Brandon Sciccitano stopped 14 shots in the cage for the Falcons before giving way to Tucker Johns who made a pair of stops in relief.

Suh opened the scoring in the first 40 seconds to put Lasell in front 1-0 before Ryan Brown evened the score at 1-1 with 10:34 left in the first period. Dylan Gray scored on a feed from Pat Egan with 4:26 left in the first and the Lasers never gave back the lead the rest of the way.

Saitta notched an unassisted tally with just over a minute left in the first for Lasell however Buck tallied his first goal for Albertus with 51 seconds on the clock to send the game into the second quarter with the visiting Lasers holding a 3-2 lead.

Lasell blew the game open in the second period, getting three goals apiece from Suh and Sullivan to spark an 8-2 burst through the 15 minutes of action that gave Lasell an 11-4 lead at the half. The Lasers scored the first six goals of the third to push their advantage to 17-4 before the Falcons added two more goals in the closing minutes of the third to make it a 17-6 score. Lasell added three more goals in the fourth quarter to produce the 20-6 final score.

Lasell heads to Rivier on Saturday April 5th for a 4:00 p.m. matchup with the Raiders before traveling to Johnson and Wales on Monday April 7th for a 7:00 p.m. contest against the Wildcats.
