Gordon Stops Men's Lacrosse Streak at Three

NEWTON, Mass. (3/29/14) – The Lasell College men's lacrosse team had a three game winning streak snapped by visiting Gordon College, 11-4 in non-conference action at Grellier Field. The Lasers dropped to 4-4 overall with the loss while Gordon evened their record at 5-5 following the victory.

Casey Sullivan (Waterford, Conn.) and Aaron LaPorte (Gorham, Maine) each scored twice for Lasell and Pat Egan (Glen Rock, N.J.) added a pair of assist in the loss. David Walen (Longmeadow, Mass.) took the loss, making 14 saves in goal as Lasell was outshot 55-24 on the game.

Roger Evans notched four goals for Gordon, Ryan Utz added two goals and one assist and Matt Dantona chipped in one goal and two assists in the victory. Cody Greenwald stopped 14 shots in the cage for the Fighting Scots to earn the victory.

Gordon opened with three straight goals in the first quarter, two on shots from Evans to take a 3-0 lead into the second quarter. The visitors opened up a 5-0 lead when Thor Rasmussen and Evans scored a minute apart, leaving Lasell trailing by five goals with 10 minutes to play in the half. Joe Cunning (Newton, Mass.) setup Aaron LaPorte to get Lasell on the board then Egan connected with Sullivan twice to cut the Lasers deficit to 5-3 at the intermission.

Gordon opened the second half with three straight goals to make it 8-3 halfway through the third period and then tacked on two more following LaPorte's second goal of the game to take a 10-4 lead into the fourth quarter. Utz scored the lone goal of the final period for Gordon as the Fighting Scots collected the 11-4 victory.

Lasell will go on the road for three straight GNAC contests, heading to Albertus Magnus on Wednesday April 2nd before visiting Rivier on Saturday April 5th and Johnson and Wales on Monday April 7th.
