Men's Lacrosse Falls at Kean

Union, N.J. (2/9/13) - The Lasell College men's lacrosse team lost a non-conference road game at Kean University, 16-5 on Saturday afternoon. The men slid to 1-2 on the season with the loss, while Kean climbed to 3-1 on the season, having won their last three games.

Dylan Fernandes (Billerica, Mass.) paced the Lasers attack with three goals, while Dan Clark (Scarborough, Maine) and Andy Puopolo (Duxbury, Mass.) each added a goal for Lasell. 

Sean Bobal (Clinton, N.J.) and Brad Mills (Vernon, N.J.) each netted three goals and an assist for the hosts, who also got two goal and one assist performances from John Marcelli (Moorestown, N.J.) and Tom Clifford (West Islip, N.Y.). 

Chris Thomas-Ikier (Burlington, Mass.) took the loss in goal for Lasell, making 13 saves and facing 29 shots, Lane Zierten (Washington Twp, N.J.) earned the win in goal for Kean, stopping eight of the 12 shots he faced.

Kean opened the scoring with a pair of goals in the opening four minutes, eventually going up 3-0 at the end of the first period behind two goals fom Bobal. Andy Puopolo get Lasell on the board with 10:54 left in the second quarter on a feed from Ladson Shaello-Johnson (Binghamton, N.Y.), cutting the deficit to 3-1.

Kean answered with three consecutive goals to take a 6-1 lead with six minutes remaining in the opening half. Dylan Fernandes would get the Lasers back in the game with a pair of unassisted goals, the second with 3:31 to play in the half, send Lasell to the break facing a 6-3 deficit.

 The Cougars opened the half with five consecutive goals to put the game out of reach, outscoring the visitors 10-2 in the final 30 minutes of action. 

Lasell will look to bounce back on Wednesday Mar. 13th when the travel to Wesleyan University for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
