Men's Lacrosse Remains Perfect in GNAC with 7-2 Win over DWC

Nashua – The Lasell men's lacrosse team built a 5-0 lead at halftime and used a solid team defense to hold Daniel Webster to just two goals on the afternoon on the way to a 7-2 victory over the host Eagles in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest Wednesday at Eagle Field.

Dylan Gray (Bayport, N.Y.) paced the Lasers with three goals and two assists as Lasell (8-4, 6-0 GNAC) won its sixth straight. Pat Bresnahan (Manchester, N.H.) added two goals while Jon Elia (East Lyme, Conn.) and Kevin Malloy (Newton, Mass.) chipped in with single scores. Patrick Mahlstedt (Hillsborough, N.J.) pulled in a game-high six groundballs.

Justin Chiulli (Saugus, Mass.) and Dan Knupfer (Corfu, N.Y.) each potted a goal for the Eagles (3-6, 0-6 GNAC). Eric Mulford (Canton, Mass.) added four groundballs.

Tommy Driscoll (South Boston, Mass.) finished with saves for Daniel Webster, while Don Berube (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Luke Grayson (Peabody, Mass.) notched three saves apiece in a half of work each for the Lasers.

Lasell finished with total advantages in shots on goal (22-8), groundballs (37-23) and clears (13-9).

Bresnahan notched the first two goals of the game 2:50 into the first and with 1:46 remaining and Elia made it 3-0 with 14 seconds to go before the end of the quarter.

Gray would add his first two of the day 1:52 into the second and at the midpoint of the quarter for a 5-0 lead at the break.

Malloy upped it to 6-0 with 4:45 gone in the third with the Lasers working a man advantage, before Knupfer put the Eagles on the board on the power play off a Bobby Loranger (Billerica, Mass.) feed with 7:11 to go for a 6-1 game after three.

Chiulli cut the lead to 6-2 3:50 into the fourth off a Kurtis Fotheringham pass but Gray would tack on his third with 7:52 left for the 7-2 final.

The Eagles return to action on Saturday when they host Emerson in a GNAC matchup beginning at 1:00 p.m. Lasell visits Rivier on Saturday in a GNAC game at 1:00 p.m.
