Lasell Men’s Lacrosse Alum Gets Cannons Training Camp Invite

Newton, MA - Mike Maggio finished his Lasell College lacrosse career in 2009 as one of the most decorated players in the history of the program, and now he is getting a chance to play at the professional level. Maggio attended an open tryout with the Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse and was one of four players from the tryout to receive an invitation to training camp.

The Cannons camp began on March 31st, and will continue April 14th and 15th, with the final two days on April 21st and 22nd. After the 22nd, the team will cut down to their 25 man roster, and will keep six more players on the practice squad.

Maggio ranks seventh on the all-time scoring list with 135 points, tallying 95 goals and 40 assists in his four year career at Lasell. He was selected to the Pilgrim League All-Conference Second team as a sophomore, and then was voted to the Pilgrim League All-Conference First Team in his junior and senior seasons.  He was selected to the NEILA All-Star game following his senior year and was also selected to the ECAC All-New England First Team.

Maggio twice helped lead Lasell to the ECAC tournament, including his junior year when his team leading 33 goals helped propel the Lasers to an appearance in the Northeast Regional Championship game.
