Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Wheaton College 12-6

Newton, MA - The Lasell College men's lacrosse team fell to the Lyons of Wheaton College 12-6 on Wednesday.  Sophomore Colby Shield (Yarmouth, ME) accounted for the game winning goal, unassisted, in the 2nd quarter at 5:27.  The Lyons' were led by freshman Matthew Hillman (Brookline, Ma) with four goals and one assist.  Junior Dylan Gray (Bayport, NY) recorded two of the six goals for the Lasers.  Both teams spilt the face-offs, winning 10 each.

The Lasers started off the first half with a face-off win that led to a goal by Dylan Gray, assisted by Jake LaMorte (Walpole, MA).  The Lyons then scored on a man up opportunity by Will Compton (Deering, NH) on a pass from Hillman bringing the score to 1-1.  Hillman capitalized on a breakaway with 7:36 remaining in the first quarter to take the lead.  The Lyons would score three more goals by Shields, Hillman, and freshman Sean Finn (Kennebunk, ME) before the end of the quarter putting the score at 5-1, in favor of Wheaton.  Lasell was able to connect with the net at the beginning of the second quarter for a man up goal by Dylan Gray.  Shields and Hillman each scored for the Lyons in the second quarter, while freshman Eric Marcantonio (Lexington, MA) tallied once for the Lasers bringing the score to 7-3 at the half.  Freshman Robbie Palazzo (Redding, CT) scored Lasell's lone goal of the third quarter which was followed by five unanswered goals for Wheaton.  Lasell scored twice in the fourth period to account for the final score of 12-6.

The win brings Wheaton's record to 3-3 for the year, and the Lyons will host their first conference game of the season against Clark University on March 31st at 3:00pm.  Lasell dropped to 2-4 with the loss, and will host Norwich University in their first GNAC matchup of the season on March 24th at 2:00pm.
