Men's Lacrosse Uses 2nd Half Run to Defeat Wentworth 16-7.

Newton, MA– The Lasell College men's lacrosse team got back to their winning ways, picking up their second home victory of the season with a 16-7 defeat of Wentworth. The Lasers placed seven players in the scoring column led by Dylan Gray Bayport, NY) with four goals and three assists, and used an 8-1 run to break open a close game in the second half. Max Blum (New Fairfield, CT), Mark Pappas (Worcester, MA), and Jeff Guilherme (Derry, NH) each scored twice for the Leopards. The Lasers won 22 of 27 face-offs to help control the game.

The game was a homecoming for Wentworth head coach Dan Russo, who scored 16 goals during his junior and senior years at Lasell and graduated in 2007. His Leopards scored the first goal of the game to take a 1-0 lead, followed by the hosts scoring six straight goals and threatening to put the game away early. Wentworth regrouped, closing the half by scoring three unanswered goals to make it a 6-4 game at the break.

Lasell scored twice to open the third quarter, pushing their lead to 8-4, but Wentworth answered on a goal from Guilherme to keep the contest close. Adam Foss (Billerica, MA) scored a man-up goal at the 6:11 mark in the third quarter, to begin the Lasers 8-1 run that put the game away.

Foss and Jake LaMorte (Walpole, MA) each scored three goals for Lasell, who also got a pair of goals from Robbie Palazzo (Redding, CT) and Dan Clark (Scarborough, ME), while Pat Bresnahan (Manchester, NH) and Jon Elia (East Lyme, CT) each netted one goal.

Jared Proulx (Nashua, NH) stopped 12 shots in the loss for Wentworth, and Don Berube (Tewksbury, MA) picked up the win for Lasell, stopping 12 of the 18 shots on goal. The loss drops Wentworth to 1-1 on the year, and the Leopards will travel to MIT on March 20th for their next game. Lasell improved to 2-3 with the victory, and they will return to action on March 21st when they host Wheaton College at 3:30pm.
