Newton, MA - The Lasell Men's Basketball team came out on top on Wednesday, defeating the Emmanuel Saints by a final score of 72-66. The Lasers are now 8-6 on the season and 2-1 in GNAC play, while the Saints are now 5-9 and 1-2.

Seven minutes into the game the Saints held a 14-9 lead. But the Lasers would use an 11-3 run to grab a 20-17 lead. The teams would trade baskets before the Lasers expaned their lead to 32-24. The Lasers would ultimately hold a 36-30 lead at the break.

The Saints once again grabbed a five point lead seven minutes into the second half, leading 49-44. But just like in the first half, the Lasers responded, and the game sat tied at 56 with six and a half minutes remaining. Back to back three pointers from Cameron Foster-Martez and Marcus Lewis gave the Lasers their largest lead of the game to that point. After extending the lead to as many as 10, the Lasers were able to hold onto a 72-66 win.

Playing without a number of key contributers, the Lasers relied heavily on their starters. Che Hanks played all 40 minutes, while Marcus Lewis and Karim Belhouchet each played 37. The only scorers for the Lasers were the five starters in Lewis (22), Hanks (19), Demerrick Warren (17), Belhouchet (7), and Cameron Foster-Martez (7). Hanks added six assists, five rebounds, and three steals, while Lewis led the team with seven rebounds.

Up Next - The Lasers will host New England College on Saturday at 4pm.
