MBB: Lasers Fall in GNAC Clash at Regis

Weston, MA - The Lasell Lasers fell to the Regis Pride by a final score of 70-63 on Wednesday night. The loss drops the Lasers to 10-12 on the season, and 7-8 in conference play. The Pride are now 12-10 and 8-7. With the loss, the Lasers are now one game behind Regis for the final playoff spot in the GNAC playoffs.

The two teams got out to a slow start, as neither team scored in the first two minutes. Regis would grab a 10-2 lead after six minutes, but the Lasers would get back into the game by shooting the three ball. As they went on a 14-4 run that featured three three-pointers. But a 9-0 run by the Pride gave them the lead again at 23-16. The Lasers would respond with a 9-0 run of their own to grab the lead right back at 25-23. The two teams would trade baskets over the last three minutes of the half, and the Lasers led 29-27 at the break.

Regis came out of halftime fast, going on a 14-2 run to take a 10 point lead with 13 minutes remaining in the game. After a pair of three-pointers the Lasers were within four, but the Pride answered with five straight points to push their lead back out to nine. The teams would each go on mini runs over the next few minutes, but a Conan McCusker three with seven minutes remaining brought the Lasers within three at 53-50. The Lasers would get even closer two minutes later at 55-54. A 9-3 run by the Pride would give them the distance they needed, as the Lasers were unable to get closer than five the rest of the way.

The Lasers were led by EJ Day's 20 points. Also scoring in double-digits was Demmerrick Warren (14) and Quinton Partee Jr. (13). Partee Jr. also grabbed 13 rebounds, giving him his second double-double of the season. DaVon Bradley led the team with four assists and four steals.
