MBB: Lasell Picks Up Crucial GNAC Victory

Chicopee, MA - The Lasell Lasers picked up an important win on Tuesday night, as they defeated the Elms Blazers by a final score of 67-60. The Win moves the Lasers to 8-11 on the season, and 5-7 in conference play, while the Blazers are now 3-17 and 2-11. With the win, the Lasers sweep the season series over the Blazers.

The beginning of the game saw the two teams go back and forth, as there were ties at 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18. The Lasers made their move with just under three minutes to play in the first half, going on a 10-0 run to close the half, and take a 32-23 lead at halftime.

The two teams once again traded baskets to open the second half, but DaVon Bradley hit back-to-back threes to give Lasell a 43-28 lead with 15 minutes to play. After a Blazers timeout, Elms went on a quick 6-0 run to bring the lead back down to nine. The two teams went back and forth, trying to get an advantage. The Blazers slowly chipped away at the lead, and trailed by just five with eight minutes remaining. After the Blazers made it a one point possession with three minutes to play, and the score 58-55, the Lasers got a layup from Marcus Lewis. But that was quickly answered by Elms. Elms was able to get the lead down to just two points with a minute remaining, but layups by DaVon Bradley and Conan McCusker iced the game, and led the Lasers to the 67-60 victory

The Lasers were led by EJ Day, as the nations' leading scorer put up 23 for the game. He also added eight rebounds, five assists, and three steals. The other Laser guard, DaVon Bradley, also scored in double digits, scoring 10 points. Starter Almando Marinez was the third leading scorer with nine, while Marcus Lewis was right behind him, scoring eight off the bench.
