MBB: Strong Second Half Leads to Lasers Victory

Newton, MA - The Lasell Lasers defeated the Regis College Pride by a final score of 92-78 on Tuesday night. The win moves the Lasers to 6-8 on the season, and 3-4 in conference play. The Pride are now 7-8 and 3-5.

The Pride came out firing, as they hit three straight three-pointers to take an early 9-1 lead. Just six minutes into the game they would hold their largest lead of the game at 18-9. But the Lasers fought back, and used a 12-4 at the end of the half to tie things up at 38 at halftime. This was highlighted by a buzzer beating three-pointer from Andrew Cabral.

The first points of the second half came on a three pointer for the Lasers from Conan McCusker, and that would be the story of the second half was the three-point shooting of the Lasers, as they shot 7-13 from behind the arc in the second half, compared to just a 5-16 mark from Regis. With Lasell holding a 58-55 lead with 11 minutes remaining in the game, the Lasers would take control, going on a 13-0 run over the next three minutes. This run featured two three-point shots made by Demerrick Warren. The Lasers were then able to coast the rest of the way, and took home the 92-78 win.

Leading the Lasers was EJ Day, as he scored 31 points, dished out seven assists, and grabbed six rebounds. Most of his damage came in the second half, as he scored 26 points on 8-11 shooting in the second half. Also scoring in double digits was Quinton Partee Jr. (18) and DaVon Bradley (11). Aidan Morin led the team with nine rebounds.
