MBB: Top Ranked Blue Jays Too Much For Lasers to Handle

West Hartford, CT - The Lasell Lasers fell to the Saint Joseph (CT) Blue Jays by a score of 98-39 on Thursday night. The loss drops the Lasers to 5-6 on the season and 2-2 in conference play. The Blue Jays, who entered the night ranked number one in the country, move to 12-0 and 5-0.

The Lasers kept things close over the first 15 minutes of the game, even holding a couple of leads. The score was 24-20 Blue Jays with four and a half minutes left in the first half. But the Blue Jays would end the half on a 20-2 run, to take a commanding 44-22 lead at the break.

Things didn't get much better for the Lasers in the second half, as the Blue Jays started the half on a 37-5 run, putting any hopes of a Lasell comeback to bed. This included a nine and a half minute span where the Lasers went scoreless.

A bright spot for the Lasers was the play of Quinton Partee Jr. The forward scored 10 points, all of which came in the first half.

Owen Bond and Prashant Haley each scored their first career points late in the second half.

Up next - The Lasers will look to rebound next week when they travel to take on Johnson & Wales on Wednesday, January 11th. That game will start at 7:30pm.
