MBB: Last Second Shot Comes Up Short For Lasers

Newton, MA - The Lasell Lasers fell in a back and forth affair against the Worcester State Lancers by a score of 76-73. The Lasers fell to 3-4 on the season, while the Lancers improve to 6-3.

In a high scoring first half, the Lancers got out to the early lead, leading 13-5 six minutes into the game. The Lasers would use a 7-0 run over a two minute stretch to take a 20-18 lead. The Lasers would build their lead to as many as nine. The Lancers would answer though, and things headed to halftime all tied at 47.

The two offenses cooled down in the second half, but the teams went back and forth. The Lasers made the first move, as they went on a 14-4 run to start the half, giving them a 61-51 lead with 13 minutes remaining in the game. But the Lancers would later go on a 13-0 run over a four minute span to take a 74-69 lead with five minutes left. This is where the offenses started to slow down. As the two teams combined for six points over the final five minutes. On their final possession, Karim Belhouchet missed a three pointer that would have tied the game up for the Lasers with two seconds left.

On offense, the Lasers were led by Conan McCusker, who scored 20 points off of the bench. All but three of those points came in the first half. Right behind him was EJ Day with 19. Day also added eight assists. Also scoring in double digits for the Lasers was Almando Marinez, who scored 14.
