MBB: Day's Monster Game Leads Lasers to Victory

Henniker, NH - The Lasell Lasers defeated New England College Saturday afternoon by a score of 79-65. The win brings the Lasers to 1-1 on the season, while NEC falls to 0-2.

The first half saw the two teams get out to a slow start, with it being tied at 16 a piece 12 minutes into the game. The scoring would pick up in the later part of the half, as the Lasers would close the half on an 18-12 run to take the 34-28 lead. 

The two teams would trade baskets throughout the first eight minutes of the second half, as the Lasers held a 53-47 lead. But then Lasell would go on a 21-9 run over the next 10 minutes, giving the Lasers a commanding 74-56 lead. The Lasers would eventually win 79-65.

The star of the game was EJ Day (Norwalk, CT), as he scored 45 points, on 15-22 shooting including 12-18 from the free throw line. Of his 45 points, 29 came in the second half. He also added five steals. Tate Niemela (Jaffrey, NH) was the other double digit scorer for the Lasers, scoring 10. Gabe Qua led the Lasers with 11 rebounds.

Up Next - The Lasers will next play on Tuesday, November 15th at Eastern Nazarene. That game will start at 7:30pm.
