Lasell Men’s Basketball defeated by UMaine Farmington

NEWTON, Mass. – Junior Amir Moss (Portland, Maine) made 11-of-12 shots and finished with a career-high 27 points Saturday afternoon as the University of Maine Farmington defeated Lasell College, 87-68, in non-conference men's basketball action at the Lasell Athletic Center.

Moss, who has scored at least 20 points in five straight games, added three rebounds, three assists and three steals to his effort. Freshman Jack Kane (Cumberland, Maine) added 12 points off the bench on 5-of-8 shooting, while senior Milani Hicks (Scarborough, Maine) and junior Bill Ruby (Gorham, Maine) each made 5-of-7 attempts and contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Sophomore Kevin Nunez (Dorchester, Mass.), making his first appearance for Lasell since transferring from Mount Ida College, led the Lasers with 19 points (on 7-of-11 shooting) and six rebounds. Sophomore Dylan Murray (Williston, Fla.) made four three-point hoops to finish with 12 points and five assists, and junior Stefan Masciarelli (Northbridge, Mass.) added 11 points.

The visitors took an 11-3 in the first four minutes and never trailed after that. The Lasers were within six points (21-15) after a Murray three with 11 minutes to go in the first half, but UMF went on a 14-4 run over the next four minutes to push the lead to 35-19. Farmington continued to surge and took a 52-28 lead into the break.

UMF maintained a sizeable lead throughout the second half. Lasell came alive late, outscoring the Beavers 18-7 over the final eight minutes, but the deficit was too large to overcome.

Lasell (2-10) begins Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Tuesday, hosting Saint Joseph's College of Maine (10-2) at 7:00 p.m. at the Athletic Center. UMF (7-3) plays another road game Tuesday at Colby College (7:00 p.m.)
