Lasell Men’s Basketball defeated by Husson

NEWTON, Mass. – Husson University had four players score in double figures Monday evening as the Eagles downed Lasell College, 71-64, in non-conference men's basketball action at the Lasell Athletic Center.

Freshman Justice Kendall (Baltimore, Md.) led the Eagles with 19 points, connecting on 9-of-13 shots from the field. Senior Justin Martin (Winslow, Maine) recorded a solid double-double with 14 points and a game-high 16 rebounds, and sophomore Cole Thomas (Orlando, Fla.) added 14 points off the bench, draining 5-of-6 shots from the field, including all three attempts from beyond the three-point line. Sophomore DJ Bussey (Peoria, Ariz.) rounded out the double-digit scorers for the visitors with 11 points.

Sophomore Dylan Murray (Williston, Fla.) led the Lasers with a career-high 27 points and nine rebounds, connecting on 10-of-21 shots, including 7-of-15 from three-point range. Sophomore Liam Jacobs (Plainfield, Conn.) added a season-high 14 points and eight rebounds, and sophomore Vic Collazo (Clearwater, Fla.) contributed eight points and nine rebounds. Junior Stefan Masciarelli (Northbridge, Mass.) collected a season-high eight assists.

Husson (3-1) had the upper hand in the early going, leading by eight points five minutes in (14-6). The Eagles led by as many as 12 points (31-19) with four minutes to go in the first half, but Lasell scored the final five points of the half to slice the margin to 35-27 at the break.

The Lasers (1-5) pulled to within two points early in the second half, 37-35, after a Masciarelli three-pointer, but Martin answered with a pair of threes for Husson to push the margin back up to eight, 43-35. Lasell pulled to within two again at 51-49 on a Murray three-pointer, but couldn't even up the score. Husson went on a 15-7 run to push the lead back up to 10 points, 66-56, with six minutes to go. Lasell got as close as five points with a minute to play, but Husson held on for the road victory.

Lasell looks to get back on the winning track with another home game on Thursday against Worcester State University, beginning at 8 p.m. Husson is back in action on Friday at Northern Vermont University-Lyndon at 5:30 p.m.
