MIT Pushes Past Men's Basketball 64-49

NEWTON, Mass. (12/2/17) - The Lasell College men's basketball team fell 64-49 to non-conference foe Massachusetts Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon.

Lasell and MIT kept the game close to begin the first half, with the Engineers jumping to a 15-8 lead with 12:08 remaining in the half.

Tim Blair (Newington, Mass.) would tie the game at 21-21 with 7:11 in the first half, but the Engineers would regain the lead, never looking back on a Cameron Korb (Los Gatos, Calif.) basket less than a minute later.

MIT's Ian Hinkley (Raleigh, N.C.) and Korb both scored a game-high 14 points, with Hinkley adding in three rebounds and two blocks against the Lasers.

Liam Jacobs (Plainfield, Conn.) and Blair each finished in double digit scoring, both contributing 11 points. Jacobs recorded a team-high six rebounds along with one assist and two blocks for the Lasers. Lasell won the battle on the glass, out-rebounding MIT 43-38 in the loss.

The Engineers outscored the Lasers 30-23 in the second half to secure the victory. Overall MIT shot 45.5% from the field, including 33.3% from beyond the arc (11-33). Lasell was kept to only 31.7% shooting from the floor.

Defensively the Lasers held MIT below 70 points for only the second time this season, and their lowest total of the year.

Both MIT and Lasell are back in action on Tuesday December 5th as the Engineers travel to Emmanuel at 7:00pm and the Lasers take on Dean College at 7:00pm on the road in non-conference action.
