
NEWTON, Mass. (2/29/16) – Junior guard Armin Omanovic (Wilkesboro, N.C.) and senior forward Pat Marchand (Cranston, R.I.) received Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) post-season honors as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Omanovic represented the Lasers as a First Team pick, while Marchand was elected to the Second Team.
Omanovic, a two-time GNAC Player of the Week, finished his first season as a Laser with 556 total points, highlighted by an 83.9 shooting percentage from the free throw line. Omanovic connected on 230-274 shots from the charity stripe, and set the Lasell College record for most free throws made in a game on December 5, with 22 against Mount Ida. In all 27 contests started for the Lasers, Omanovic also totaled 120 rebounds and 109 assists. At the conclusion of the season, Omanovic ranked third among conference stat leaders with 20.6 points per game.
Marchand, a crucial forward to the program, grabbed 280 rebounds - ranking third in the GNAC with 10.4 rebounds per game - this season to push his career total to 459 in two years played. Marchand also registered 368 points to complete 13 double-doubles out of 27 games played.
Senior Richard O'Brien (Manchester, N.H.) represented the Lasers on the All-Sportsmanship Team as a key four-year member of the program. O'Brien finished his stint at Lasell with 811 points, highlighted by a season-high 347 this year. In addition to the All-Sportsmanship Team, O'Brien was named to the All-Tournament team as he contributed 35 points, eight rebounds, and five assists during post-season play.
