Lasell Falls in Men's Hoops Action 90-74 at Albertus Magnus

New Haven, CT - The Lasell College men's basketball team dropped a GNAC road contest 90-74 at host Albertus Magnus. Sean Bertanza(Seymour, Conn.) led four Lasers in double figures, scoring 24 points in a losing effort. Freshmen Sherrod Wade(College Park, GA) added 11 points, while Brandon Ganesh(Wellington, FL) and Earnest McNeil(Boston, MA) chipped in with 13 and 10 points respectively off the bench. 

The Falcons opened tonight's contest with a 4-0 run in the first 37 seconds before a Lasell timeout. Lasell came out of the timeout with a 12-2 run to take a six-point lead at 12-6 but the Falcons battled back to tie the game at 18 with 11:25 left on the clock.

With the game tied at 23 and eight minutes remaining in the opening stanza, Albertus closed the half on a 29-10 run, giving them a 52-33 advantage at the break. Lasell was led by Sean Bertanza, who registered 13 of his 24 points in the opening half.

The Falcons took a 22-point lead two minutes into the second half, but the Lasers battled back to cut the Albertus' lead to nine at the 12:29 mark. The Falcons answered, putting together a 14-3 run in a span of 6:29 en route to the 16-point victory.

Ray Askew led all scorers for the Falcons, tallying 30 points and adding 11 rebounds, while Bertanza was the high scorer for Lasell with 24 points on 9 of 15 shooting.

The win improved Albertus Magnus to 15-1 overall and 10-0 in GNAC play, while Lasell falls to 7-10 and 6-4 in GNAC action. The Lasers return to their homecourt on Thursday January 26th, when they will host Suffolk University at 7:00pm.
