Newton, Mass.- Four Lasell athletes were honored by the GNAC with weekly awards. Elizabeth Stickley (Mashpee, Mass.) and Matthew Scully (Watertown, Conn.) were selected for the second week in a row as Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week respectively, while Meghan Crozier (Ballston Spa, NY) and Christina Annicelli (North Easton, Mass.) were chosen as women's volleyball Player of the Week and cross country Rookie of the Week respectively.

 

Stickley was selected for the second consecutive week after playing a tremendous game in net for Lasell in a 3-1 victory over GNAC rivals, Emerson College, on Saturday.  Stickley made great plays throughout the contest, disallowing 1-on-1 attempts by challenging Emerson early.  The sole goal of the contest against Stickley was off of the second penalty kick of the day.

 

Stickley is currently leading the conference with a 1.24 goals against average. She also ranks 4th in save percentage with a .818 and 6th in saves per game, averaging 6.00 per contest.

 

For the first time this season, Crozier was awarded the Player of the Week recognition by the GNAC.  Crozier was selected to the All-Tournament team at the Union College Invitational this past weekend, after averaging 24 assists and 8 digs per match in the tournament.   In a six match week, Crozier totaled 124 assists, 7 aces, and 47 digs. 

 

Crozier stands at third place in the GNAC statistical rankings for assists per set, averaging 6.66 per set.  She has dished out 493 total assists so far this season.

 

Scully was also acknowledged for the second straight week, and third time over this season, for being the top Lasell finisher at the Runnin' Monks Invitational hosted by St. Joseph's College of Maine over the weekend.   The rookie has been the top finisher in each of the five meets the Lasers have competed in this season. 

This weekend, Scully came in 14th place overall with a time of 29:52 on the 8K course.

 

Also being honored as the women's cross country Rookie of the Week for the second time this season is Annicelli.  The freshman was chosen after a 25th place finish at the Runnin' Monks Invitational, running a time of 23:52.  Annicelli was the third Laser overall to finish, and the first rookie to cross the finish line of the 5K course.
