Newton, MA- The Lasell University field hockey team celebrated their seniors and turned in a commanding performance on Saturday afternoon, defeating Albertus Magnus College 5–0.
Lasell set the tone early, earning multiple penalty corners in the opening minutes before Brooklyn Northcutt broke through in the 6th minute to give the Lasers a 1–0 lead. Just four minutes later, Alice Rourke doubled the advantage with a clean finish to the corner of the cage, putting Lasell ahead 2–0 after one quarter.
The Lasers continued to dominate the attack in the second frame. After a series of corners and blocked shots, Kaylene Ellis buried a penalty stroke in the 24th minute to extend the lead to 3–0. Moments later, Casey Davis connected off an assist from Jacquelyn Scopa to make it 4–0 heading into halftime.
Lasell's defense, anchored by goalkeeper McKenna Ecker, held Albertus Magnus without a single shot on goal through the third quarter. Ecker and the backline, led by Scopa and Ellis, turned aside every Falcon push while maintaining offensive momentum through sustained pressure and corners.
In the fourth quarter, Rourke struck again in the 48th minute for her second of the day, capping off the scoring and securing the 5–0 shutout victory. The Lasers outshot the Falcons 30 to 1 and earned 13 penalty corners to the Falcons 0.
