Newton, MA - The Lasell Field Hockey team bounced back from their first loss of the season with a dominating 4-1 win over Saint Joseph's (Maine). The Lasers are now 13-1 on the season and 10-1 in GNAC play. The Monks are now 6-9 and 6-4. With the win, the Lasers can finish no worse than second in the GNAC. In order to clinch the top seed, the Lasers will need to win their final game against Rivier and have JWU lose to either Dean or USJ.

The Lasers grabbed the lead midway through the first quarter when Abbey Playle scored her 16th goal of the season off of an assist by Mckensie Lennon. The Monks would tie things up with just over a minute remaining in the first quarter. But just three minutes into the second Lily Stark put the Lasers back up 2-1 with her 17th goal of the season, which would hold through halftime.

The towards the end of the third, Sheridan Blaha scored her 20th goal of the season, and marked her 14th consecutive game scoring a goal. She would add another towards the end of the fourth to make it 4-1, the final score. That goal was her 50th career goal at Lasell. Blaha is the only player in the country to score in every game of the season.

Courtney Tello was in net for the Lasers, picking up the win while making five saves. She now has 30 career wins, becoming just the second player in school history to reach that mark.

The 40 total shots from the Lasers is tied for the fourth most in program history. Playle's 16 shots is tied for the second most shots in a game by an individual.

With the win, the Lasers have now won three straight over the Monks after having lost 19 of the previous 21.

Up Next - The Lasers will wrap up their regular season when they host Rivier on Tuesday at 5pm.
