FH: Lasers Trounce Chargers on Senior Day

Newton, M.A. – The Lasell University Field Hockey team remained undefeated on Saturday. Afternoon with a 6-1 victory over GNAC foe, Colby Sawyer. With the win the Lasers are now 8-0 in GNAC play and 11-0 overall. The Chargers are now 8-3 and 5-2.

It took the Lasers a couple minutes to get going, but Abbey Playle continued to do what she has done all year long and kickstarted the offense with a goal in the first quarter, her 15th of the year.

The Lasers found their groove after that, scoring three of their six goals in the second quarter. That started with a goal from Sheridan Blaha, assisted by Lily Stark. Three minutes later, Playle buried her second of the game to give the Lasers a 3-0 lead. Playle would then assist Blaha on her second goal of the game less than a minute later.

After a late Colby-Sawyer goal to make it 4-1 at the half, the Lasers opened up with a goal in the third quarter and it would be Blaha again, making it back to back games with a hat trick for her.

Lasell capped off their big senior day win with a goal off the stick of senior Maddie Sewade, for her first career collegiate goal, a goal that produced the largest cheer of the day from a packed crowd. That would seal the win for the Lasers 6-1.

Goalie Courtney Tello saved 10 shots for the Lasers, while Paige Jette and McKensie Lennon each had two defensive saves, and Isabella O'Reilly and Kaleigh Miller each had one.

Up Next: The Lasers are back on the road Tuesday night, for a GNAC matchup with Anna Maria at 6:00!
