FH: Lasers Steamroll Bulldogs

Newton, MA - The Lasell Lasers Field Hockey continue to be a runaway train, as they defeated the Dean Bulldogs 11-0 on Wednesday, moving to 10-0 on the season and 7-0 in GNAC play. The Bulldogs move to 1-10 and 1-6.

The Lasers opened up scoring seven minutes into the game when Lily Stark scored off of a Sheridan Blaha pass to make it 1-0. Four minutes later Abbey Playle scored off of a Stark pass. Less than 30 seconds after that Blaha completed the three headed monster triangle by scoring off of a Playle pass. Playle would score once more before the end of the quarter to make it 4-0.

The Lasers continued to pile it on, as they would score two times in the second, once each from Jacquelyn Scopa and Halleen Seguin, giving them a 6-0 lead at the half.

They would not let up in the third, scoring four more times, twice from Blaha, and once each from Stark and Kaitlin Bedell. The scoring was wrapped up by a last second goal in the fourth by Caitlyn Smith, assisted by Maddie Sewade.

Stark and Playle each finished with two goals and two assists, while Blaha recorded a hat trick, her first of the season and third of her career. Stark (15/35), Blaha (14/33), and Playle (13/35) each rank in the top six in the country in goals as well as points.

Courtney Tello and Gwendalyn Baublitz each played a half in net, with neither facing a shot. tello picked up the win, bringing her to 10-0 on the season.

This marks the third time this season that the Lasers have scored at least 11 goals, scoring 12 the previous two times. The three games are the three highest scoring games in program history.

Up next - The Lasers wll take on one of their toughest tests of the season when they host Colby-Sawyer on Saturday at 12pm. The Lasell seniors will be honored prior to this game.
