Newton, MA - The Lasell University Field Hockey Team put on a dominating performance on Friday, defeating Salem State 6-0 in a season opening win.

Leading into the game, the talk around the Field Hockey team centered around graduate transfer Abbey Playle, and the DII transfer did not disappoint. She opened the scoring in the third minute of the game. Then she added a second goal in the second quarter. After Sheridan Blaha scored her first goal of the season in the 22nd minute, Playle would complete her hat trick less than a minute later. This gave the Lasers a 4-0 lead at halftime. After a scoreless third quarter, Jacquelyn Scopa scored the first two goals of her career in the fourth. The Lasers held on for the 6-0 victory.

With her three goals, Playle became the first player in school history to record a hat trick in her first game at the school. Johanna Snyder picked up two assists, while Mckensie Lennon had one.

Courtney Tello started in net and stopped all seven shots she faced.

Up next - The Lasers will play another home game on Monday at 3pm against Framingham State.
