FH: Lasers fall to Wildcats

Providence, RI

The Lasell University field hockey team fell to the Johnson & Wales Wildcats 5-0 Saturday afternoon at Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletics Complex. The loss moves the Lasers to 9-7 on the season and 6-4 in conference play. The win moves the Wildcats to 15-0 on the year.

The Wildcats got on the board early in the first period when Margaret Johnson (Bear, DE) passed the ball wide to Jillian Miele (Wilmington, MA). Miele then shot the ball in the net to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.

The score remained 1-0 until the 29th minute when Jillian Miele set up Margaret Johnson for a goal. The Wildcats would lead 2-0 going into halftime.

Jillian Miele got her second goal of the contest in the 32nd minute when she dribbled in and scored to give the Wildcats a 3-0 lead. 

Margaret Johnson would also get her second goal of the contest in the 41st minute when she collected a loose ball and shot it into the net to increase the Wildcat lead to 4-0. 

In the 55th minute of the fourth period, the Wildcats were granted a penalty stroke. Jillian Miele stepped up and scored to make it 5-0 Wildcats.  This would be the final score of the game. 

Lasell goalie Courtney Tello (Nashua, NH) finished the game with thirteen saves.

The Lasers are back in action on Wednesday as they host Saint Joseph's (Maine) at 5 p.m. on Grellier Field. The Wildcats are back in action on Monday as they travel to Cambridge, MA to take on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at 6 p.m.
