Lasers beat Pride; Stark set season record with 22nd goal of the season

Newton, MA

The Lasell University field hockey team defeated the Regis Pride 5-2 Wednesday afternoon at Grellier Field. The win moves the Lasers to 9-6 on the season and 6-3 in conference play. The loss moves the Pride to 3-11 on the year.

The Lasers got on the board early when Sheridan Blaha (Waltham, MA) passed the ball to Sage Dodier (Amesbury, MA), who then shot it into the net. Six minutes later, Blaha scored courtesy of Dodier. One minute later, Lily Stark (Saco, ME) made it 3-0. 

At the 15th-minute mark, Chloe Grande (Topsfield, MA) pulled one back for Regis. Eight minutes Later Stark got her second goal of the game off of a pass from Blaha. Six minutes later Stark scored her third goal of the game. This goal was her 22nd goal of the season and Stark now has the record for most goals in a season. 

Thirty seconds later, Pride forward Ashley Monteiro (Atkinson, NH) passed the ball to Morgan Pero (Hartford, VT) who then shot the ball into the left corner of the net.  This made the final score 5-2 in favor of the Lasers. 

The Laser goalie Courtney Tello (Nashua, NH) finished the game with four saves and Jocelyn White had 5 saves for the Pride.

The Lasers are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Providence, RI to take on Johnson and Wales at 1 p.m. Regis is also back in action on Saturday when they host Simmons at 2 p.m.
