Pignone Garners Second GNAC Field Hockey Player of the Week Honors

NEWTON, Mass. (10/9/17) – For the second time this season, junior Nikki Pignone (Ipswich, Mass.) has been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Corvias field hockey player of the week, as announced on Monday afternoon. Pignone was previously named as the GNAC's first field hockey player of the week on September 5th, and this week's honor marks the fifth time a Lasell field hockey player has been recognized for a weekly award.

Pignone has been a force for Lasell in its best season to date, scoring a goal in each game played last week, against New England College, MIT, and reigning GNAC champion Saint Joseph's Maine. Pignone highlighted her stellar weekly performance with the game-winner against the Monks, propelling Lasell to its first victory against Saint Joseph's since 2013 to keep an untouched conference record.

The junior now has 14 goals in her first season as a Laser, ranking second among GNAC opponents.

Pignone and the Lasers hop out of conference action for their next contest on Wednesday, October 11 at Smith at 4:30 p.m.
