Landry, Shepherd Garner GNAC Field Hockey Weekly Honors

NEWTON, Mass. (9/25/17) -- The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) has named  senior Denise Landry (New Milford, Conn.) and freshman Claire Shepherd (Huntington Beach, Calif.) as this week's Corvias field hockey goalkeeper and rookie of the week respectively, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon. This marks the third week this season that at least one Lasell field hockey student-athlete earned conference weekly honors.

Landry currently sits ranked first in the GNAC for goals against average at 0.46%, and boasts a .906% save percentage. Those statistics have also earned Landry national recognition, as she currently sits at second in the nation in goals against average, and third in save percentage across all of Division III.

This past week Landry recorded 17 saves, including tying her season high nine saves in the Lasers' 1-0 shutout versus Clark University.

Shepherd has made an immediate impact since arrive to campus, scoring five goals, and one assist in eight games played. This past week, Shepard contributed two goals apiece in a 5-2 non-conference victory versus Salve Regina, and a 7-0 shutout victory on the road at conference foe Rivier.

The Lasers travel to Worcester, Mass. on Tuesday to face WPI at 7:00PM in a non-conference matchup, before traveling to GNAC rival Mount Ida on Sunday at noon.
