CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Lasell field hockey team won its third game of the season in shutout fashion, blanking Elms College 6-0 in a non-conference tilt at Leary Field Tuesday night. The Lasers roll to 4-0, while the Blazers slide to 0-3 on the season.

After 14 minutes of scoreless play, the Lasers cracked the scoreboard as senior Erica Connors (South Berwick, Maine) played a ball to junior Nikki Pignone (Ipswich, Mass.), who placed a shot past Elms junior keeper Jillian Lapponese (Enfield, Conn.) to stake Lasell to a 1-0 lead.

In the 22nd minute of play, Pignone dribbled up the right side towards goal and tucked a pass to the front of the net where junior Cailin Flannery (Medford, N.J.) knocked a shot to the back of the cage, making it 2-0 heading into halftime.

Less than two minutes into the second half, Flannery had an initial shot deflected away, but gathered the loose ball and found Pignone at the far post to push the Lasers ahead 3-0. With 19:40 to play, Flannery fired home a feed from Samantha Taylor (Hanover, Mass.) and then knocked in a loose ball in the 55th minute to pad the lead to 5-0. Lasell potted their final goal of the day with 7:12 to play as Connors converted off a feed from freshman Liz Polimou (Harvard, Mass.) to send the Lasers to the 6-0 win.

Lasell controlled the shot column, 24-3, during the contest. Lasers' senior goalkeeper Denise Landry (New Milford, Conn.) stopped a pair of shots in the win. Lapponese notched a season-high 12 saves for the Blazers, while
