Flannery, Taylor Repeat as GNAC Weekly Award Winners

NEWTON, Mass. (10/31/16) – For the second time this season, Cailin Flannery (Medford, N.J.) and Samantha Taylor (Hanover, Mass.) took two of three Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

Flannery was named GNAC Corvias Player of the Week, while Taylor took Rookie of the Week.

Both forwards were crucial pieces in the GNAC quarterfinal match against Mount Ida, as the Lasers earned a 2-1 victory along with a spot in the conference semifinal. With 90 seconds left in regulation, Taylor netted the postseason game-winner that was assisted by Flannery. Flannery also added a helper in Lasell's game-tying goal in the 47th minute, to lead the Lasell roster with 11 assists overall. Taylor's pivotal goal puts her at 13 in her rookie season, a team-best.

Flannery, Taylor and Lasell field hockey team will continue their playoff run on Wednesday as they travel to Saint Joseph's Maine for the GNAC semifinal. The postseason tilt is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Portland, Maine.
