Kelsey Russell Named as Assistant Field Hockey Coach

NEWTON, Mass. (9/11/16) – Lasell head field hockey coach Cait Connolly announced the hire of Kelsey Russell of Salem '16 as assistant field hockey coach for the 2016 season. Russell enters her first season at Lasell after having spent four years as a standout tri-sport athlete at Salem State as a pivotal member of the field hockey, women's ice hockey, and women's lacrosse program.

Among her many athletic accolades, Russell was recognized as field hockey Offensive Player of the Year in 2014, the team's most valuable player in 2015, and served as the team's captain during her last two seasons.  At the conclusion of her senior year, Russell started in all 17 games played for the Vikings, and tallied four goals and three assists.

Russell also served as team captain for the Vikings women's ice hockey and lacrosse teams. As the 2014 and 2015 MVP in lacrosse, Russell was also a MASCAC First Team All-Conference player in 2013, 2014, and 2015.

An Arlington, Mass. native, Russell currently utilizes her avid leadership skills as an assistant coach with Snipers Lacrosse, and as an ice hockey instructor with pro ambitions hockey.

Russell received her Bachelor's degree in Communications in May 2016, with a minor in Sport Management.
