NEWTON, Mass. (9/13/16) – Lasell field hockey took two of three Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards as announced by the conference office on Monday morning.

Sophomore Cailin Flannery (Medford, N.J.) took Player of the Week, while freshman Samantha Taylor (Hanover, Mass.) earned Rookie of the Week.

Flannery, the GNAC's reigning Rookie of the Year, combined for eight points on two goals and three assists in a 2-0 week for the Lasers. The sophomore forward registered a goal and an assist in a 4-0 win at Clark before notching two goals and an assist in a 3-0 win over Rivier.

Taylor tallied three goals, including two game-winners, in both games played for Lasell. Taylor scored a pair of goals against Clark, and one goal in the GNAC opener against Rivier.

The Lasers currently sit at 1-0 in conference play and have outscored their opponents 12-1 in the opening two weeks of the season.

Flanney, Taylor, and the Lasers will return to non-conference action this afternoon at 4:00 p.m. when they host Nichols College.
