Wilson Nets Two as Field Hockey Blanks Rivier 3-0

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Field Hockey team fell at home this afternoon to Lasell College, 3-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at Raider Field. The Raiders are now 3-13 overall and 0-6 in the conference. Lasell moves to 9-8 overall and 4-2 in league play.

The Lasers got on the board early when senior Cristina Wilson (Wilmington, Mass.) knocked home a pass from senior Ashlee Pechulis (Westfield, Mass.) seven minutes into the contest. Freshman Julia Franzik (Wallingford, Conn.) would then add an unassisted tally at 16:40 before Wilson recorded her second goal of the contest off a penalty stroke in the 27th minute as Lasell held a 3-0 halftime lead.

That would be all the scoring as a few halftime adjustments limited the Lasers' scoring chances in the second half. Rivier freshman goaltender Emily Foster (West Lebanon, N.H.) made seven saves on the afternoon and her counterpart, sophomore Denise Landry (New Milford, Conn.)stopped both shots she faced.

The Raiders will make their last road trip of the season in their next scheduled contest set for Monday night at Elms College in a non-conference matchup. Lasell will return to action on Wednesday evening when they host Colby-Sawyer College.
