Three Lasers Score as Field Hockey Upends New England College 3-1

HENNIKER, N.H. (10/13/15) – The Lasell College field hockey team topped New England College 3-1 in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Don Melander Field. With the win, the Lasers even out at 7-7 while the Pilgrims sink to 2-13.

Senior Ashley Gleason (Suffield, Conn.) registered her first goal of the season, while seniors Francesca Ceppetelli (Enfield, Conn.) and Cristina Wilson (Wilmington, Mass.) added a goal each for the Lasers' offense.
The lone goal for the Pilgrims came from sophomore Abigail Arsenault (Pine Plains, N.Y.) – her third of the season.
Lasell was first to strike in the 14th minute, as Gleason redirected a shot from freshman Julia Franzik (Wallingford, Conn.). The Pilgrims would respond on the counterattack seven minutes later when Arsenault collected a loose ball in front of the net to even out the scoring 1-1.

Senior Danielle Hottin (North Branford, Conn.) lined up for a penalty corner with 3:20 left in the first half, which resulted in a shot freshman Cailin Flannery (Medford, N.J.). An initial save from NEC sophomore netminder Michaela Clark (Dorchester, Mass.) kept the hosts out of trouble for the time being, however Ceppetelli would find the back of the net on the rebound for the go-ahead goal just before halftime.

Lasell's goal of assurance came in the 58th minute of play, as Wilson secured the 3-1 victory with her eighth goal of the season.
The Lasers dominated a 23-9 advantage in shots, and took 15 penalty corners compared to the Pilgrims' five.

Sophomore Denise Landry (New Milford, Conn.) recorded seven saves in between the pipes for Lasell, while Clark had 11 stops in the effort for New England College.

Both teams return to conference action on Saturday, October 17. The Lasers will host Saint Joseph's College (Maine) at 12:00 p.m. as part of Lasell's Family, Friends, and Alumni weekend, while the Pilgrims travel to Thomas College at 1:00 p.m.
