Field Hockey Shuts Out Mount Ida 4-0

NEWTON, Mass. -- Mount Ida College had their three-game win streak snapped and dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Confernece (GNAC) fixture on Saturday afternoon, losing 4-0 to Lasell College in field hockey action at Alumni Field.

Mount Ida saw sophomore goalie Emily McConnell (Lowell, Mass.) make 13 saves, but were outshot 31-9 on the day and the Lasers got a hat-trick from freshman forward Cailin Flannery (Medford, N.J.) to help lead them to victory.

Sophomore Lexi Minicucci (Westfield, Mass.) had six of Mount Ida's shots, and four of their six attempts on goal, as Lasell sophomore Denise Landry (New Milford, Conn.) made six saves to earn the shutout.

Flannery scored her first goal at the 22:04 mark off of a penalty corner, of which the visitors held a 27-4 advantage. Coming out of the half, Flannery completed her natural hat trick with an unassisted goal at 43:14 and antoher six and a half minutes later off a feed from Danielle Hottin(North Branford, Conn.).

The Lasers capped their scoring just three and a half minutes from the final whistle when Erica Connors (South Berwick, Maine) finished off a pass from Cristina Wilson (Wilmington, Mass.).

Mount Ida drops to 4-8 overall and 1-3 in the GNAC and they will travel to Fitchburg State on October 14th for a 7:00 pm non-conference game.

Lasell (6-7, 3-1 GNAC), head to New England College on Tuesday for a 4:00 pm non-conference affair.
