Balanced Attack Drives Lasell Past Becker in Field Hockey
NEWTON, Mass. (9/26/15) – The Lasell College field hockey team used four different goal scorers on their way to a 4-0 non-conference victory over Becker College on Saturday afternoon at Grellier Field. The Lasers evened their record at 4-4 on the year with the victory, while Becker dropped to 1-8 overall.
Seniors Francesca Ceppetelli (Enfield, Conn.) and Cristina Wilson (Wilmington, Mass.) each scored for Lasell, and they were joined in the scoring column by freshmen Brittany Fortier (Newport, Vt.) and Cailin Flannery (Medford, N.J.). Sophomore Denise Landry (New Milford, Conn.) made four saves in posting her second straight shutout victory in goal for the Lasers.

Junior Brittney Bebeau (Harrisville, R.I.) tallied a team-high four shots for Becker, while senior Katherine DiMascio (Braintree, Mass.) and sophomore Amy Grenier (Westminster, Mass.) each notched two shots for the Hawks. Senior net-minder Gabrielle Gallo (Northport, N.Y.) stopped eight shots for Becker as she took the loss for Becker.

Becker started the contest strong, earning three penalty corners in the game's opening seven minutes, however Landry was able to turn aside a pair of shots from Grenier to keep the score knotted at 0-0 in the early going. Fortier got Lasell on the board in the 15thminute of play, scoring her first collegiate goal on an assist from fellow freshmen Julia Franzik (Wallingford, Conn.). Francesca Ceppetelli tallied her third of the season seven minutes later, giving the hosts a 2-0 edge heading into the halftime intermission.

Cailin Flannery found the stick of Cristina Wilson with a cross in the opening minute of the second half to and the senior's shot beat Gallo for her fourth goal of the season, putting Lasell on top 3-0. Flannery then added her team-leading ninth goal of the year in the 47th minute, and Lasell held on for the 4-0 victory.

Becker will open their Northeast Collegiate Conference schedule on Tuesday September 29th when they host Elms College at 4:00 p.m., while Lasell will travel to WPI on Tuesday September 29th for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference tilt with the Engineers.
