Field Hockey Uses Overtime Goal to Get Past Becker

LEICESTER, Mass.-  In non-conference women's field hockey action Tuesday afternoon, Lasell College defeated Becker College 3-2 in overtime. The win moves the Lasers record to 3-7, while the Hawks stumble to 1-8.

Taylor Hulitzky (Medway, Mass.) scored twice for Lasell, including the overtime winner and Ashlee Pechulis (Westfield, Mass.) tallied the other Lasers goal. Danielle Hottin (North Branford, Conn.) and Ashley Gleason (Suffield, Mass.) each recorded assists for Lasell, and freshmen keeper Denise Landry (New Milford, Conn.) stopped six shots to earn the victory.

The Lasers jumped on the board 8:52 into the game when Ashlee Pechulis scored on a feed from Danielle Hottin.  Lasell increased their lead to 2-0 when Taylor Hulitzky put back a rebound in front of the Hawks net.

The Hawks cut their deficit in half in the 18th minute Brittany Bebeau (Harrisville, R.I.) scored on a penalty corner.

Becker tied the game 10:06 into the second half when Brittany Bebeau broke through the Lasell defense, slipping it into the back of the Lasers net.

The Lasers had an opportunity to take the lead with 11 minutes remaining in regulation when Courtney Braman (Gardner, Mass.) had an open look, but Brittany Bebeau made a defensive save to preserve the 2-2 tie.

The Lasers captured the victory 6:53 into overtime when Ashley Gleason (Suffield, Mass.) passed the ball out to the left point to Taylor Hulitzky who ripped a one-timer into the back of the Hawks net.

Becker goalie Gabrielle Gallo (Northport, N.Y.) turned away six shots in the contest.

Becker returns to action on Thursday, October 2 when they host Framingham State University at 4:30 p.m. Lasell continues GNAC play when they host Rivier University on Saturday, October 4 at noon.
