Field Hockey Tops Regis, 2-0 in Non-Conference Action

NEWTON, Mass. (9/13/14) – The Lasell College field hockey team picked up a 2-0 non-conference victory over neighboring Regis College on Saturday afternoon at Grellier Field. The Lasers upped their record to 2-3 on the season while Regis slipped to 1-4 overall.

Courtney Braman (Gardner, Mass.) and Kristine Jackson (Medway, Mass.) each scored for Lasell and Ashlee Pechulis (Westfield, Mass.) tallied an assist in the victory. Denise Landry (New Milford, Conn.) picked up the victory in goal, stopping one shot to record her first career shutout.

Regis goaltender Raegan Heck (Phillipston, Mass.) had an outstanding performance in goal for the visitors, stopping 10 of the 12 shots on goal she faced. Yasmin Akib (Everett, Mass.) had the best scoring opportunity for the Pride, recording the team's only shot on goal.

Braman got the Lasers on the board just before intermission with an unassisted goal in the 34th minute of action. Kristine Jackson made it 2-0 Lasers in the 64th minute when she tallied her first goal of the season on a feed from Pechulis. Lasell held a 19-2 advantage in shots on the day and a 14-1 edge in penalty corners.

Regis returns to action on Tuesday September 16th when they host Johnson and Wales Univeristy at 4:00 p.m., mean while Lasell will host MIT on Tuesday September 16th at 4:00 p.m. at Grellier Field.
