Lasell Women's Sports Helping to Fight Cancer and Fund Research

NEWTON, Mass. (10/16/13) - A trio of Lasell College women's stahletioc teams are helping to raise awareness of cancer during opctober and helping raise money to fund cancer research. The Lasell women's soccer, women's volleyball and field hockey teams are all using the month of October to host events to help fight this important batte. All three teams are wearing pink for their respective home games, the unifying color for cancer awareness.

Women's Field Hockey - 10/12 vs. Husson University

The women's field hockey team partered with the Susan G. Komen foundation for Cancer research for their "Play 4 the Cure" Pink Event. The team hosted a bake sale and collected donations as well as providing information to spectators about ways they could get involved and how they could help combat breast cancer.

Women's Soccer - 10/19 vs. Swarthmore 12:00 p.m.

The women's soccer team is partnering with The V Foundation for their 2013 Pink Event, an organization founded by legendary coach Jim Valvano that has been promoting cancer awareness and funding research for the last twenty years. The women's team will be raising money in rememberance of Coach LaFrancesca's mother, Maria. The team will be accepting donations and collecting money before and during their October 19th home game against Swarthmore College at 12:00 p.m.

Women's Volleyball - 10/19 vs. Suffolk 

The women's volleyball program will again be working with THE SIDEOUT Foundation for their annual Dig Pink Event when they host Suffolk on Saturday October 19th at 2:00 p.m. The women's team has set a goal of raising at least $250.00 with their event and would appreciate your support in this important cause.
