East Conn. Nabs 1-0 Win over Lasell in Field Hockey

The Lasell College field hockey team dropped a 1-0 non-conference matchup to the visiting Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors. The loss dropped Lasell to 1-2 on the season while the Warriors improved to 2-1 with the victory. Elly Walker (Scarborough, Maine) scored the game's lone goal with just under 20 minutes to play to give the visitors the win.

Cristina Wilson (Wilmington, Mass.) and Ashlee Pechulis (Westfield, Mass.) each had scoring chances turned aside for Lasell, and the Lasers keeper Taylor Sheehan (Brewster, Mass.) made six saves in the loss.

Hannah Keiser (Danbury, Conn.) and Laura Chicorka (Enfield, Conn.) had three and two shots on goal respectively for ECSU, and with Walker providing the only scoring on her unassisted tally. Samantha Scavo (Redding, Conn.) made a pair of saves to earn the victory in the cage for the visitors.

Walker's goal came courtesy of a failed clearance by Lasell after a ball squirted in front of the goal, her low shot glanced off the right post and settled into the back of the cage for the game's only goal.

Lasell will travel to Wheaton College on Wednesday September 11th at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Connecticut will host Wheelock on Wednesday September 11th as they look for their third win of the season.
