NEC Upends Lasell in Women's Field Hockey, 3-1

Newton, Mass. – The Lasell College women's field hockey team dropped a North Atlantic Conference match-up against the visiting Pilgrims of New England College, 3-1 at Grellier Field. The loss leaves the Lasers at 4-8 overall and 1-6 in the NAC, while New England College improves to 5-7 on the season and 4-2 in conference play.

Francesca Ceppetelli (Enfield, Conn.) scored the Lasers' goal, and goalkeeper Cassie Aviles (Bellingham, Mass.) stopped 14 shots while taking the loss in goal for Lasell. Katherine Rich (Westborough, Mass.), Kate Roberge (Essex, Vt.) and Miranda Murphy (Contoocook, N.H.}) each tallied goals for the Pilgrims, who saw Courtney Duquette (Enfield, N.H.) make 6 saves while earning the victory in goal for NEC.

The opening half saw a fairly even affair, with NEC opening the scoring in the 33rd minute of play on the goal by Rich on a feed from Patricia Wright (Essex, Mass.). The hosts answered back in the 35th minute, drawing even on the Ceppetelli goal shortly before the half.

Roberge put the visitors ahead for good in the 57th minute and the Murphy goal less than two minutes later provided the final 3-1 margin.

New England College will be back in action on Tuesday, October 9th when they host Bridgewater State University at 7pm. Lasell will be traveling to Eastern Connecticut State University on Tuesday for a 4pm road tilt.
