Field Hockey Downs Raiders in NAC Play

Nashua, NH-Concetta Nicoloro (Arlington, Mass.) scored two goals late in the second period to bring the Lasell College field hockey team past NAC challenger Rivier College on Saturday afternoon.  Nicoloro's game-winner was scored with just 15 minutes remaining to give Lasell their second consecutive NAC win.  The final score of the contest was 4-1.

The Lasers were dominant from the start of the contest, outshooting the Raiders by a total of 31-5 in the 70 minute game.  Goalkeeper Christine Thornton (Canton, Mass.) was tested just once in the first half by Rivier, while the Lasers took nine shots in the half.  The teams broke for halftime without a score tallied.

Midway through the second period, Nicoloro took a pass from junior midfielder Tia Pratt (S. Paris, ME) to slip in her first goal and get the Lasers on the board.  Less than a minute later, the freshman forward scored again, this time off an assist from Sara Jannuzzi (Glen, NH).

Jannuzzi then struck against the home team to further the Lasers advantage.  At 62:32, Jannuzzi scored an unassisted mark followed by senior forward Justine McComb (Bloomfield, Conn.) who put in a fourth goal with just over a minute left to play.

Thornton had one goal pass by her late in the second half by Rivier.

The Lasers have won four out of the last five games they have played.  Their overall record is currently 4-6 and they stand at 2-2 in the North Atlantic Conference.

Lasell faces non-conference visitors Becker College on Tuesday, October 06th at 4:00 p.m. on Grellier Field.
