Castleton Predicted to Top NAC Field Hockey

Castleton State College has been chosen to finish at the top of the 2008 conference field hockey standings in a vote by the league's coaches. The Spartans have a full squad returning including five seniors who earned all-conference recognition last season. The Castleton attack will be led by Kayla Blank and Carolyn Griggs, both first-team all-conference selections a season ago.

The University of Maine at Farmington, two-time defending conference champion, received three first place votes and 41 points to place second in the poll. The Beavers return seven starters from a squad that finished 7-1 in regular season play a season ago. The Farmington defense will be led by first-team all-conference selections goalkeeper Kaeleigh Barker and defender Erika Lucas. Husson University, who received 39 points and one first place vote, returns nine starters including three all-conference first team selections forward Elisha Dorso, midfielder Krystal Doughty and the 2007 NAC Player of the Year Erica Dorso.
